This year we celebrate 140 years since the founding of GAZ or, more precisely, our predecessor company. But our history actually begins two years earlier, when the Saxon engineer Carl Wolf invented the gasoline-powered safety miner's lamp. Then in 1884, Wolf and a business partner founded Friemann & Wolf, which quickly established itself as a global leader in mining equipment.
By the turn of the century, electric mining lamps had become commonplace, so we started making batteries to equip the lamps with them. At first it was zinc-carbon cells, but by the end of the first decade of the 20th century it was nickel-cadmium cells.
On the occasion of this anniversary, we would like to thank you who have been or are currently part of our journey - our employees, our customers and all of you who share our passion for technology, quality, safety, reliability and responsible approach to the environment. Thank you for being with us on this amazing journey.
